Detect My Charge is a free tool that helps you identify unknown transactions on your bank statement. Simply paste the transaction descriptor from your statement, and we'll match it against our database of UK merchants and common charges.
Our matching system compares your search against merchant names, common transaction descriptors, and aliases. We use a scoring algorithm to find the best match from our curated database of UK merchants.
Our database is extensive but not exhaustive. If you can't find a charge, it might be from a smaller merchant or use an unusual descriptor. You can help us by reporting the unknown charge using our report form, and we'll work on adding it to our database.

Yes. Your searches are processed entirely in your browser — we don't send or store your search queries on our servers. When you choose to submit a report or a comment, that content is sent to our servers and stored securely in our database so we can review it and, for approved comments, display it to other users.
