Frequently Asked Questions About Dropbox Charges

What is Dropbox on my bank statement?

Dropbox is listed in the Subscription category. Dropbox is a cloud storage and file-syncing service with paid Plus, Essentials and Family plans. A recurring charge is your storage subscription, billed monthly or annually depending on your plan. It typically appears as DROPBOX on your statement. It may appear on your bank statement under a shortened descriptor rather than its full name.

How do I cancel Dropbox?

If this is a recurring payment you no longer want, log in to your Dropbox account and cancel it in your account settings before the next billing date. If you recognise the merchant but have a question about the charge, contact Dropbox directly using the details on this page. If you do not recognise this entry, contact your bank or card issuer and ask them to confirm the transaction and merchant details. Only you and your bank can confirm whether a payment was authorised.

Why does Dropbox appear on my statement with a different name?

Banks display a short "transaction descriptor" set by the merchant's payment processor, not the company's full trading name. This is why Dropbox may appear as an abbreviation or code. The descriptor is usually the company's registered payment name, which can differ from the brand name you recognise.
